"Wildlife"

At home I have an aquarium where fish live and I have noticed a very interesting thing, namely that as soon as I add any new fish which is slightly smaller than the others already living in their watery space, it is immediately devoured. Sometimes the new fish is attacked by the largest of the resident fish and other times the fish is brutally attacked by a gang of several fish at once who then eat it the new arrival alive.
In a broader sense it is amazing that in our so-called civilized society of Homo sapiens the same thing is still happening today. It is absolutely astounding how little we have evolved from the primitive fish. It is almost incomprehensible how after Gagarin's amazing flight into space, Malevich's artistic creation of the Black Cube and Morton's historic invention of anesthesia, in our very nature we continue to still remain nothing more than vicous animals, where the strong devour the weak.

У меня дома живут аквариумные рыбки, и я заметил, что стоит добавить новую рыбку, которая чуть меньше размером чем другие, как эту рыбку сразу же съедают. Иногда на новую рыбку нападает самая большая рыба, а иногда на эту рыбку нападают сразу несколько рыб, которые съедают её живьём.
Удивительно, что у нас в обществе homo sapiens до сих пор происходит, примерно, то же самое. Удивительно, как мы недалеко ушли от простейших рыб. Удивительно, как после полета Гагарина в космос, создания Малевичем "Черного квадрата" и изобретения Мортоном анестезии, мы продолжаем оставаться животными, где сильный поедает слабого.
